CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. (Jan. 12) - The Saint Vincent women's basketball team failed to record a made field goal in the final 12:30 of the first half as No. 10 Thomas More closed the half on a 22-0 run that helped propel them to a 63-50 victory.

With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 10-5 on the season and 6-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Thomas More, who has won six-straight PAC titles, improves to 14-1 overall and 8-0 in the league.

After falling behind 4-0 in the game's early stages, the Bearcats went on a 6-0 run that lasted 1:44 and included three points by senior forward Jordan Clinton and a three-pointer by senior guard Melissa Mansur.

A Thomas More bucket at 14:55 tied the game, 6-6, and then SVC went on an 8-0 run that was started by a layup from senior forward Devin McGrath and included a fastbreak layup by sophomore guard Ally Schmidt and a pair of layups by junior forward Taylor Mathers.

Schmidt's layup at 12:31 to go in the first half would be the last field goal the Bearcats made in the half, while a pair of free throws by McGrath at 9:46 were the final points for SVC in the period as SVC went into the locker room down, 34-18.

McGrath scored eight of SVC's first 11 points in the second half, but Thomas More improved their lead to 53-27 at the 12:12-mark in the second half.

Freshman guard Ashlee Darby scored eight-straight Bearcat points over a five-minute span and a fastbreak layup by sophomore guard Jessica Welch cut the margin to 16 points, 56-40, with 4:03 to play.

Two Welch free throws and a three-pointer within a minute of each other made it 61-45 with 1:36 left, and McGrath hit a triple and Darby recorded two free throws with under a minute left to post the final margin, 63-50.

SVC shot just 36.0 percent (18-of-50) for the game, including 4-of-15 (26.7 percent) from three-point range. Thomas More connected on 19-of-64 shots (29.7 percent) and just 17.4 percent (4-of-23) from beyond-the-arc. The Saints made 21-of-29 (72.4 percent) of their free throws compared to just 10-of-21 (47.6 percent) for the Bearcats.

McGrath finished with game highs of 16 points and 16 rebounds, while Darby was also in double figures with 10 points, matching a season high.

Thomas More senior Allison Long finished with a team-high 15 points, including 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. Katie Kitchen and Devin Beasley each added 13 points for the Saints.

The Bearcats return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 15, with a 5:30 p.m. PAC game at Waynesburg.
