The Saint Vincent College men's tennis team started the season off on the right foot with a 9-0 win over the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats.
The Bearcats take a 1-0 record into their annual Florida trip, where they compete against three formidable NAIA and Division II foes.
Saint Vincent's three doubles teams lost only three games combined.
Chris Andrejcik led the way, racking up three aces in the first game of the match, as he teamed up with
Sean Malone at third doubles for an 8-0 win.
In singles, four Bearcats dropped just a single game on their way to victory. Freshman David Cenkner, in a sparkling debut, cruised 6-1, 6-0 at second singles. Andrejcik, Malone, and
Anthony Nemanic were the other Saint Vincent players who won by a 12-1 aggregate score.
At #1 singles,
Tony Costantino beat Zack Pivirotto 6-3, 6-1.
Nathan Walch, playing 5th singles, overcame some early struggles to capture a 6-2, 7-5 triumph on his 21st birthday.
Freshman Pat Hines also won 8-2 at exhibition singles.
