GREENVILLE, Pa. (Feb. 8) - The Presidents' Athletic Conference Sports Network will broadcast the Saint Vincent men's and women's basketball doubleheader at Bethany on Saturday, Feb. 9, starting at 2 p.m.
The team of Randy Gore, Justin Pyles, Dave Singer, Kat Ghion and Jon Rudder return for their second season to bring the action from around the PAC this season.
In the women's match-up, which has a schedule tip-off time of 2 p.m., the Bearcats will look to take a season sweep against the Bison for the fourth-straight year. Last month, Saint Vincent posted a 58-46 win over Bethany at the Carey Center behind a double-double (19 points, 13 rebounds) by senior forward and PAC Player of the Year candidate,
Devin McGrath.
Entering play this weekend, McGrath
is averaging 15.3 points (fifth in PAC), 10.6 rebounds (first), 3.0 assists (sixth) and 3.0 steals (second).
The SVC men's team, ranked fifth in the initial NCAA Great Lakes Regional Rankings released earlier this week, also features a top candidate for the league's top honor in senior guard
Chris Klimchock. The 5-8 guard ranks fourth in the PAC with 15.9 points per game, including a career-high 31-point showing on Wednesday at Geneva, which marked the highest individual point total for SVC since former Bearcat
Dennis Bassich scored 33 points on Jan. 7, 2012 against W&J. Klimchock leads the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.8, and is second in the conference with 3.6 assist per game, while also ranking among the top 10 in the league in free-throw percentage, steals, three-pointers made and three-point percentage.
The first meeting between the Bearcats and Bison saw SVC hold on to post a 69-66 win at home thanks to five players in double figures. Junior guard
Isaac Turner led the team with 14 points, while classmate
Dillon Stith posted 12 points, sophomore forward
Sean Kett recorded 11 points and senior forward
Grant Latus and freshman guard
JC Howard each scored 10 points. Klimchock posted a season-best nine assists in the win.
Stith has had great success at Hummel Field House, averaging 22.5 points and six rebounds in two games there while converting on 72.7 percent (16-of-22) of his field-goal attempts.
The Bearcats will close out the regular season next week with two dates at the Carey Center. Wednesday, Feb. 13 SVC will host Waynesburg at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., before welcoming Thomas More on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday's contest between the top-two teams in both the men's and women's standings will also air on the PAC Sports Network.
