LATROBE (March 2) - Nora Posival recorded 10 points (four goals, six assists) as the Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team opened up the 2013 season with a 18-8 win over Albion (Mich.) on a cold, snowy day on the SVC Turf.

The Bearcats open the season 1-0 for a second-straight season, while the Britons drop the opening game of their season and fall to 0-1.

Saint Vincent scored the first seven goals of the game top open up a 7-0 mid-way through the first half. Molly Snyder scored the first goal of the season for the Bearcats just 1:08 into the game on a pass from Posival. SVC would scored twice more before the game was two minutes old with Posival tallying an unassisted goal and then assisting on a Megan Fisher marker.

The next four SVC goals were posted by Alyssa Lang and Amie Dobracki, with each posting a pair of scores in alternating fashion. Dobracki's goal at 14:34, put the Bearcats ahead, 7-0.

Albion got on the board with 10:54 to play, before Posival assisted on goals by Fisher and Hannah Hackman to close the half and send SVC into the break up 9-1.

The Britons posted three of the first four goals of the second period, with Lang's unassisted tally being the only Bearcat score during the stretch, to cut the margin to 10-4 with 22:20 to play. SVC answered with a 3-0 run with Posival posting back-to-back goals and Hackman capping the run with 18:22 remaining, 13-4.

Once again, Albion scored three of four goals, before SVC scored four of the final five goals over the last 8:22 to seal the 18-8 victory.

SVC posted a strong 18-1 advantage on shots in the first half, en route to a 33-13 edge for the game. The Bearcats picked up 31 ground balls while the Britons added 25 ground balls.

Posival's 10-point performance was her highest out-put since she registered 12 points at West Virginia Wesleyan on April 17, 2012. Hackman finished second on the team with six points (two goals, four assists), while Lang (four goals, one assists) and Fisher (four goals) added five and four points, respectively. Dobracki and Snyder each posted a pair of goals to finish with two points each.
