WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 20) - The Bearcats scored double-digit goals in both halves en route to a 22-9 win at Waynesburg in what will become Presidents' Athletic Conference action in two seasons.
The win puts the Bearcats back above .500 with a 3-2 record on the season and snaps a two-game skid, in which SVC dropped two one-goal games. The Yellow Jackets drop to 1-4 on the season after dropping their second-straight game.
SVC scored 12 goals in the first half to take a 12-4 lead into halftime, and outscored the hosts, 10-5, in the second half.
Nora Posival led the Bearcats with eight points (three goals, five assists), while
Alyssa Lang added seven points (four goals, three assists) and
Megan Fisher (four goals, one assist),
Maggie Garvey (two goals, three assists) and
Hannah Hackman (four goals, one assist) each tallied five points.
Molly Snyder also posted multiple points, recording a goal and an assist, while
Amie Dobracki,
Helena Shoplik,
Kaley Burkardt and
Natalie Ambrozic each notched goals.
SVC out-shot Waynesburg, 46-15, for the game, and picked up 24 ground balls to the Yellow Jackets' 22. The Bearcats also controlled 19 of 32 draws and forced Waynesburg into 30 turnovers to just 16.
Michelle Mitchell earned the win in goal, registering five saves in 60 minutes to improve to 3-2 on the season.
The Bearcats and Yellow Jackets will meet up again in exactly one month, when Waynesburg travels to Latrobe on Saturday, April 20, at 5 p.m.
SVC returns to action on Saturday, March 23, hosting Calvin (Mich.) at 1 p.m. on the SVC Turf.
