Posival, Lang lead Bearcats to 15-13 road win

FROSTBURG, Md. (March 27) - Seniors Nora Posival and Alyssa Lang combined for nine goals and 14 points as the Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team held on to post a 15-13 win at Frostburg State (Md.).

The Bearcats improve to 5-2 on the season and improve their winning streak to three games while remaining unbeaten on the road (3-0). The Bobcats drop below .500 at 3-4 after losing their second-straight contest.

SVC held a 9-5 lead after 30 minutes of play, thanks to five goals by Lang and two scores by Posival. In the second half, the hosts out-scored SVC, 8-6, but the Bearcats were able to hold on for the 15-13 victory.

Posival led all players with eight points (three goals and five assists), while Lang registered six goals in the win. Senior Hannah Hackman and junior Maggie Garvey each recorded two goals, with Hackman adding two assists and Garvey one helper. Sophomores Amie Dobracki and Molly Snyder tallied a goal apiece.

The host Bobcats held a slim, 29-25, advantage on shots, ground balls, 18-16, and draw controls, 16-14. Dobracki led all players with five ground balls.

Sophomore Michelle Mitchell improved to 5-2 on the season, making six saves in the win.

The Bearcats now have a nearly two week break before returning to action on Tuesday, April 9, hosting Wilson at 4 p.m.
