LATROBE (April 15) - Despite trailing early, the Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team rallied to post a 15-10 win over West Virginia Wesleyan at Chuck Noll Field.
The win improves the Bearcats to 8-2 on the season and bumps their winning streak to six games. The Bobcats drop to 3-10 this season.
Megan Fisher and
Alyssa Lang put the Bearcats up 2-0 in the first five minutes of the game, but the Bobcats rallied with a 5-1 run that lasted nine minutes to take a 5-3 lead with 14:26 to go in the first half. The SVC goal during the span was scored by
Nora Posival.
SVC rallied to close the half with six-straight goals to enter halftime leading, 9-5. Lang posted four goals during the span and
Hannah Hackman and Posival recorded the other two scores.
At the start of the second half, the guests posted the first two goals within a 21-second span (25:52 and 25:31). The Bearcats thwarted the rally with five-consecutive scores, including two by Hackman, 14-7. Lang,
Megan Fisher and
Molly Snyder added the other two goals during the run.
WVW closed out the game with three goals in the final five minutes, but Lang added another to make the final score, 15-10.
Lang led all players with seven goals while Posival posted a game-high nine points (two goals, seven assists). Hackman recorded a hat trick with three goals and two assists.
Kelsey McMillen earned her third-straight win, improving to 3-0 on the season, in making four saves in 60 minutes.
SVC returns to action on Wednesday, April 17, hosting Otterbein at 6 p.m. on the SVC Turf.
