The Saint Vincent College men's tennis team stretched their undefeated conference streak to four with a 9-0 victory over Bethany College.
In a match that featured singles play both indoors and outdoors, the Bearcats took care of business despite interesting conditions. Inside on a slick surface, Saint Vincent opened the match by sweeping all three doubles positions. David Cenkner and
Anthony Nemanic paired up yet again to take an 8-1 victory. At third doubles,
Sean Malone teamed with
Nathan Walch and had little trouble en route to an 8-0 win.
Chris Andrejcik and
Tony Costantino sealed up the doubles sweep with an 8-2 victory at second doubles.
Making the transition to singles presented little adversity for the Bearcats. On the indoor courts,
Anthony Nemanic finished first with a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles.
Sean Malone dominated with his serve to cruise to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at six singles. At fourth singles,
Nathan Walch overcame adversity in the first set. Down 5-2, Walch stormed back to take the set 7-5 and proceeded to capture the second set by a score of 6-2.
Meanwhile in the chilly conditions outside, David Cenkner kept up his stellar play this year with a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles.
Chris Andrejcik dropped just one game to decisively grab a victory at fifth singles. At first singles,
Tony Costantino cruised in the first set and fought off resistance from Jimbo Peterson to finish with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
The team looks ahead to bump their conference record to 5-0 in the PAC as they welcome Thomas More on Thursday, April 4. The match will begin at 9:00 PM at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
