The Erie Explosion, a professional indoor football team located in Erie, PA, has announced the signing of former SVC quarterback and current SVC assistant coach
Aaron Smetanka to its roster for the 2014 season. Smetanka is returning to the team he helped lead to a Continental Indoor Football League Championship in 2013.
Making his professional debut in 2013 after a stellar career at Saint Vincent, Smetanka led the Explosion to a 12-0 regular season record as a starter. His team led the league in offense.
While at SVC, Smetanka was named First Team All-Conference in both 2010 and 2011, leading the team to the ECAC Southwest Bowl, and passing for more than 3,890 yards during his two seasons.
In 2013, he returned to Saint Vincent as an assistant offensive coach.
The
Erie Explosion begin their 2014 season on Sunday, February 9. The regular season runs through April 27.
