by Geo Muzika, Sports Information Assistant

All 15 Bearcats scored in a 92-48 victory over Thiel College in the Carey Center.

The Bearcats shot out of the gate early as they opened up the contest on a 7-0 run.  Senior forward Taylor Mathers scored just 10 seconds into the first half and junior guard Elle Collins capped off the run by hitting her first three-pointer of the contest.

After neither team scored for over three minutes, the Bearcats started to dominate in streaks.  The hosts opened up a 6-0 run to extend their lead to 14-4 with 14:40 remaining in the first half.  This time, it was junior Jess Welch who capped off the run with a three-pointer of her own.

Thiel pulled to within 12 points with 5:34 remaining in the first half, but a layup from sophomore guard Ally Schmidt and a deep three-pointer off a turnover from freshman Mara Benvenuti put the Bearcats up 19 (31-12) with just over four minutes left in the first half.

Saint Vincent allowed only one more bucket by the Tomcats during the final four minutes of the first half, going on a 10-0 run, and taking a 41-14 lead into the break.

Thiel came out strong in the paint in the second half, scoring the first four points via sophomore forward Jaclyn Watkins.  Collins quickly put a halt to the Tomcats' momentum by hitting a deep three-pointer to extend the Bearcat lead to 44-18 with 17:20 remaining in regulation.

Much of the second half was quiet until the Bearcats erupted on a 25-8 run to end the game.

Freshman Susie Ellis hit three treys during the run, the last one with 2:37 remaining in regulation to make the score 83-46.

The last five points of the night were scored by freshman Maggie Kimmich on a conventional three-point play and another two points in transition.

Every Bearcat notched their name in the scoring column tonight, led by a 12-point performance from Mathers and 11-point nights by Ellis and Schmidt.

The Tomcats were led senior guard Bethany Hines with 12 points, shooting 4-7 from the field.

With the victory the Bearcats improve to 8-4 on the year, 5-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.  Thiel drops to 3-7 overall, 2-2 in the conference.
