Bearcats roll past Yellow Jackets, 26-6

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Mar. 18) - The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team set a new program record for wins to begin a season, improving to 4-0 on the year with a 26-6 victory at Waynesburg.

SVC built a 3-0 lead through the first four-plus minutes with Molly Snyder playing a role in all three scores. Natalie Ambrozic scored the first and third goals off of Snyder passes and Snyder tallied the second goal with the assist to Kaley Burkardt.

After Waynesburg out-scored SVC 4-3 over the next nine minutes, SVC scored the next 14 goals to take a 20-4 lead.

Sarah Wallerstedt started the streak at the 9:52-mark of the first half and Amie Dobracki contributed three goals during the span. Snyder also recorded a hat trick over the final 8:12 of the first half, including the last two goals of the period to send SVC into halftime leading 16-4.

SVC scored the first four goals of the second half, spanning 9:10, as part of the 14-0 run. Following a Yellow Jackets' goal, the Bearcats scored five more goals to extend the lead to 25-5. The final four goals of the game for SVC were scored by Rachel Macartney, Alyssa McCuistion, Annie Mulloy and Ashleigh Pollick.

SVC tripled up Waynesburg in shots, 45-15, after posting a 27-11 lead in the first half. The Bearcats controlled 22 of 33 draws and went 9-9 on clears.

Snyder led all players with 11 points on five goals and six assists. Burkardt added five points (four goals) and Ambrozic (three goals), Dobracki (three goals) and Wallerstedt (two goals, two assists) each totaled four points. Maggie Garvey and Helena Shoplik finished with three points apiece.

Michelle Mitchell earned her fourth win of the season in goal, making four saves in 60 minutes.

SVC returns to the field on Friday, Mar. 21 with a 7 p.m. game at Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio).
