The Saint Vincent College men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the year, falling to Westminster 5-4 at the Greensburg Racquet Club.  The Bearcats are now 2-1 on the year and 1-1 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.

The Bearcats lost at both the first and second doubles positions.  Dalton Yezovich and Patrick McGee salvaged a doubles point for Saint Vincent when they beat their third doubles opponents 9-8 (3).

Saint Vincent needed to win four of the six singles points to take the match, but they fell just short of a dramatic comeback.  Chris Andrejcik and Vince Anto continued their strong singles play, each winning in straight sets to stay undefeated in singles competition.

McGee was the only Bearcat to record two points on the day.  He won handily, 6-1, 6-1, at sixth singles to also remain undefeated on the year.

McGee, Anto, and Andrejcik pulled Saint Vincent into a 4-4 tie with only Sean Malone's first singles match to be decided.

Malone lost the first set 6-1 and trailed 4-1 in the second set before mounting a comeback and winning the next four games.  Then he and his opponent, Westminster's Troy Abbott, traded three service holds and second set entered a tiebreak.

Malone captured the tiebreaker 7-2 to force a deciding third set.  He won the first two games of the third set, but Abbott changed strategies and won the next six, taking the match and clinching a 5-4 win for Westminster.

The Bearcats next match is at 9PM on Wednesday at the Greensburg Racquet Club against Pitt-Greensburg.
