BOX SCORE - GAME ONE

BOX SCORE - GAME TWO

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (April 9) - The Saint Vincent softball team was swept in a pair of closely contested games by scores of 1-0 and 4-3 at Westminster in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.

With the losses, the Bearcats fall to 2-4 in the conference and 16-8 on the year. Westminster improves to 3-3 this season in the league and 13-9 overall.

In the opener, the Titans managed to muster a run in the bottom of the third for the game's only score. SVC starter Laken Lyon was saddled with the loss after yielding just the one earned run and five hits in the contest.

SVC recorded just five hits in the contest with Ally Panzella finishing 2-2 at the plate and Sarah Swettlen contributing the Bearcats' lone extra-base hit, a one-out triple in the sixth inning that SVC failed to score on.

In the second game, Westminster jumped out to a 3-0 lead after their at-bats in the top of third inning as Saint Vincent served as the home team in the second game.

The Bearcats plated a run in the bottom of the third to bring the game to 3-1. Christina Folino led off with a pinch-hit walk and scored with two outs when Samantha Emert doubled and advanced to third on a throwing error by the shortstop.

Saint Vincent tied the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth. Emert singled to left field to lead off the inning. With two outs, a Becky Deane doubled scored pinch-runner Alie Reid and Deane later scored on a single down the left-field line by Shannon Baczek.

A single and two-out double led to Westminster's run in the top of the seventh that proved to be the game-winner. Panzella singled with one out in the bottom of the frame, but SVC was retired to close the game.

Deane and Emert each recorded multi-hit games in the nightcap for SVC.

Emert suffered the loss in game two, falling to 6-3 on the season. She worked 4.1 innings in relief of starter Ally Vrcek. Emert allowed just the one run and scatter four hits with a walk and strike out during her time in the circle. Vrcek surrendered six hits and three earned runs in 2.2 innings with two walks and a strike out.

The Bearcats hope to finally play their PAC doubleheader at Grove City on Thursday, April 10 at 3:30 p.m. The twinbill has been rescheduled multiple times due to inclement weather.
