LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 31) - The Saint Vincent women's swimming team celebrated Senior Day in style with a 161-100 victory over visiting Penn State Behrend.
Leading the way was the Women's 200 Free Relay team, who established a new pool record. The team consisting of
Alexis Ferraco,
Sarah Robbins,
Marissa Frollo and
Paige Pecora, finished with a time of 1:40.36. The same quartet finished in first place in the 200 Medley Relay, with a time of 1:56.26.
Freshman
Marla Turk put together another strong day, earning top times in the 200 Free (2:00.34), the 200 Backstroke (2:16.35) and the 200 IM (2:18.05). Ferraco and Robbins finished just behind Turk in the 200 Free, with times of 2:03.39 and 2:06.03, respectively.
SVC took the top three spots in the 100 Free. Pecora took first (56.38), while Robbins and
Katelyn Miller were just off Pecora's pace. Frollo and Ferraco finished in first and second place respectively in the 50 Free. Frollo came in at 25.19 and Ferraco finished in 25.51.
Senior
Molly McCloskey put together the top time in the 1000 Free, touching the wall in 11:32.11. McCloskey added another first place finish in the 500 Free, with a time of 5:44.00. Teammates
Gianna Boburka and
Amanda Gretz finished in the next two spots. Senior
Jess Smrekar came in first place in the 100 Backstroke (1:04.97), coming in just before teammate
Gianna Boburka (1:07.16).
Senior
Kristina Boburka put together a pair of second place finishes, taking second in the 100 Breaststroke and the 200 Breaststroke.
Freshman
Casi Smith took first in the 200 Fly and added a second place finish in the 100 Fly, coming in just a second behind teammate
Alyssa Grieco.
SVC returns to competition when they take part in the PAC Championships, hosted by Grove City College, on Feb. 12 through Feb. 14.
