Pink Out set for Saturday in Carey Center

In addition to two Senior Day basketball games, this Saturday will be the annual Pink Out event in the Carey Center, with proceeds to benefit a special cause.

The Jenny Jones Learning Center in Frostburg, Maryland, will be the charity of choice for the Bearcats this year.  The center is named for its founder, the late mother of Bearcat junior guard Pat Jones.

Jenny Jones passed away in November of 2014, just before the start of the basketball season, after a battle with breast cancer.

T-shirts will be sold Saturday and during the playoffs for $10.  A 50/50 raffle will also benefit the Center, and donations are being accepted.

The Jones family has a long history of involvement with Saint Vincent Basketball.  Pat is a second generation player, as his father, Ed, was a Bearcat in the 1970s.  Pat's uncle, Joe Dunn, the brother of Jenny Jones, was also on the team.

"Pat and the Jones family have been part of the Bearcat Basketball Family for two generations.  Pat has gone through a lot this year and still been a leader on our team.  We always say, once a Bearcat, always a Bearcat, and the current players and the coaching staff are very happy to be able to help coordinate this event to give back to one of our own."

Two games will take place in the Carey Center on Saturday.  First up will be the SVC women taking on Thomas More College, the #1 team in the nation, at 2PM.  At 4PM, the Bearcat men's team will face Thomas More.  Both SVC teams have already clinched playoff spots.  The Bearcat men, seeded #1, will host a first round game this Tuesday, February 24, at 7PM in the Carey Center, opponent to be determined.  The women's tournament is arranged differently, and SVC has the #2 seed.  The team will have a first-round bye, and will advance to the Final Four on Friday night, February 27, in a game to be hosted by Thomas More College in Kentucky, opponent to be determined.
