BOX SCORECRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. (March 14) - A balanced team attack led the Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team to a 21-3 road victory over Thomas More to open Ohio River Lacrosse play.
The preseason favorite Bearcats wasted little time taking control of the contest. SVC scored 15 goals in the first half to coast past the host Saints, who were playing their first match in program history.
Freshman
Maggie Nelson and sophomore
Sarah Wallerstedt helped pace the offense, as they both recorded three goals each. Six other Bearcats scored two goals apiece, including seniors
Molly Snyder,
Amie Dobracki,
Alyssa McCuistion and
Natalie Ambrozic.
Sophomore
Hannah Carroll and freshman
Katie Stallings both notched two goals in the contest, while senior
Jessica Welch and juniors
Helena Shoplik and
Kelsey McMillen both scored a goal each.
Senior
Michelle Mitchell got the start in net, recording two saves in the first half. Freshman
Alex Piampiano played the second half, recording one save.
SVC held a decisive 35-to-9 advantage in shots while also winning 21 of the 26 draw controls in the match.
The Bearcats return to action when they travel to Franklin (Ind.) on Sunday, March 15 for another ORLC matchup. Start time is slated for 12 p.m.
