BOX SCOREFRANKLIN, Ind. (March 15) - The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team used a strong first half to lead them to a 20-7 victory over Franklin College (Ind.) in Ohio River Lacrosse action.
The win was the second for the Bearcats in as many days, as they moved to 2-0 in league play and 2-4 overall. Franklin dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in ORLC contests.
As they did on Saturday, SVC again played a solid first half to build a sizable lead. The Bearcats rattled off the first five goals of the match. Freshman
Maggie Nelson scored two of those goals during the match-opening run for the Bearcats. Sophomore

Molly Snyder chipped in the other three goals during the run.
After Franklin answered with a goal, SVC scored the next four goals, two of which came from Nelson. Franklin cut the Bearcats lead to 9-2 but SVC scored the final four goals of the first half to give themselves a 13-2 lead after the first 30 minutes of action. Wallerstedt, Nelson,

Natalie Ambrozic each tallied a goal over the final 10:45 of the first half to strengthen the Bearcats lead.
Wallerstedt started the second half with back-to-back goals, while Stallings followed up with her second of the day to make the Bearcats' advantage 16-2. Franklin scored a pair of goals but SVC answered with scores from sophomore
Hannah Carroll and junior
Helena Shoplik.
Nelson and senior
Alyssa McCuistion rounded out the scoring for SVC with goals late in the second half. Franklin scored the final two goals to wrap up the scoring at 20-7.
Nelson continued her strong freshman season, totaling a match-high six goals. The Jefferson, Md. native now has a team-best 22 goals so far this season. Wallerstedt put together a solid afternoon, totaling five goals and chipping in two assists. Shoplik and Stallings were the only other Bearcats to finish the day with multiple goals, both scoring two in the contest.
Senior
Michelle Mitchell earned the victory in net, stopping five shots over the first 30 minutes. Freshman
Alex Piampiano recorded two saves in net over the final 30 minutes of action.
SVC continues their busy stretch when they host West Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday, March 17. Start time is set for 4 p.m.
