BOX SCOREPHOTO GALLERYLATROBE, Pa. (March 17) - The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team could not overcome a halftime deficit and dropped an 11-6 decision to Division II West Virginia Wesleyan on the SVC Turf.

Hannah Carroll opened the scoring after taking a pass from sophomore
Sarah Wallerstedt, giving the Bearcats an early 1-0 lead less than a minute into the contest. However, goals were hard to come by for the Bearcats the rest of the first half. West Virginia Wesleyan would score the six goals of the half to open up a 6-1 advantage after the first 30 minutes of play.
Wesleyan added another goal to start the second half, strengthening their lead to 7-1 just minutes into the second half. Senior
Molly Snyder helped the Bearcats break their scoring drought, finding the back of the net with 26:58 to play. The Bobcats would answer with three more goals to take their largest lead of the match, at 10-2 with 23:10 remaining.
SVC would battle back, scoring four of the final five goals of the match. Carroll added her second of the match and Ambrozic would tack on her 8th of the season off an assist from Snyder. Wallerstedt and freshman
Maggie Nelson closed out the Bearcats scoring with goals to cut the deficit to 11-6. However, that was as close as the Bearcats would get, as both teams went scoreless over the final 10:47 of play.
Snyder tallied three points to lead the SVC offense. Despite the Bearcats the Bearcats held several advantages statistically. SVC outshot Wesleyan by a 24-19 margin, held a 22-20 advantage in ground balls, received more draw controls (10-9) and turned the ball over less than WV Wesleyan (14-12).
Saint Vincent travels to Muskingum on Thursday, March 19. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
