BOX SCOREDEFIANCE, Ohio (March 23) - The Saint Vincent College women's lacrosse team doubled up Defiance College for a 14-7 victory in Ohio River Lacrosse Conference action at Coressel Stadium in Ohio.
The victory improved to the Bearcats to 4-0 in ORLC play and 5-5 overall. Meanwhile, the host Yellow Jackets fell to 1-2 in the ORLC and 1-7 overall.
SVC got on the board firs when freshman
Delaney Dobracki tallied her first collegiate goal off a pass from
Molly Snyder just a little over a minute into the contest. Defiance quickly countered with a goal of their own a minute later, tying the contest at 1-1. The Bearcats responded with goals from
Helena Shoplik and
Natalie Ambrozic, making the score 3-1 Bearcats with 22:07 to play in the first half. Shoplik's goal was assisted by Snyder.
Defiance would rally with three straight goals taking their first and only lead of the match. SVC closed the first half with four goals, gaining a 7-4 lead after the first 30 minutes of action. Snyder willed the Bearcats back into the lead, scoring three of the goals and assisting on the other goal by
Sarah Wallerstedt.
Saint Vincent continued to gain control with goals by Shoplik and Ambrozic to start the second half, pushing the Bearcats lead to 9-4. After Defiance registered a goal to close to 9-5, SVC would answer with the next five goals to take a commanding 13-5 lead with 16:55 to play.
Wallerstedt opened the run with her second score of the match, then Shoplik scored a pair of goals sandwiched around a score from Ambrozic. Snyder tallied two more assists during the Bearcats' scoring run.

Maggie Nelson, wrapped up the Bearcats scoring as their 14th and final goal of the afternoon.
Snyder put together a strong performance for the second straight day, totaling a match-best eight points on three goals and five assists. Shoplik poured in a match-high four goals, while Wallerstedt and Ambrozic both racked up four goals each.

Alex Piampiano earned her first victory in her first collegiate start. Piampiano stopped nine shots in the win.
SVC returns to action for a nonconference contest at Frostburg State on Wednesday, March 25. Start time is set for 4 p.m.
