BOX SCORE

by Brian Niemiec, Sports Information Student Assistant

The Saint Vincent men's tennis team lost a 7-2 decision on the road at Waynesburg University in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.

The Bearcats got off to a slow start dropping all three doubles matches. First doubles saw Chris Andrejcik and Vince Anto lose a tightly-contested match 8-6.

Tyler Brinton and Scott Reichard were simply overmatched at second doubles and dropped an 8-2 decision.

Dalton Yezovich and Brian Niemiec had a small comeback effort stopped at third doubles. After trailing 6-1 to start the match the pair brought it back to 6-4 with three straight points before eventually falling by a match score of 8-4.

In singles the Bearcats struggled to get a hold of any momentum as they dropped four of the six singles matches.

The most entertaining match of the day came at the first singles spot where Andrejcik split the first two sets with his opponent 5-7 and 7-5 before eventually prevailing in a third set tiebreaker 10-7.
The Bearcats also won at fourth singles as Tyler Brinton claimed a straight sets victory, 6-3 and 6-1.

The loss puts Saint Vincent at 2-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Bearcats will be back in action Wednesday, April 8, when they travel to Washington & Jefferson to take on the Presidents.
