The Saint Vincent men's tennis team was back in action for a Presidents' Athletic Conference tilt against Washington & Jefferson. The visiting Bearcats entered the day 1-3 in conference play as they looked to get back on track against the Presidents.
The Presidents, however, had other ideas, earning an 8-1 victory over the Bearcats. Â
Â
Saint Vincent got off to an inauspicious start in doubles play. The first and second doubles pairings for Saint Vincent dropped 8-1 and 8-2 decisions, respectively. Third doubles featured the pairing of
Dalton Yezovich and
Patrick McGee putting their undefeated record on the line. The pairing started the day off trading games back and forth on the way to a 4-3 set lead, before eventually falling 8-4.
Â
Entering singles play, Saint Vincent needed a strong showing to capture the win. The Bearcats' prayers were not answered as they dropped four of the five singles points to lose the match, 8-1. The lone point for Saint Vincent came from sophomore
Tyler Brinton who captured a straight sets victory 6-2, 6-3.
Â
The loss has Saint Vincent sitting at 2-5 overall and 1-4 in conference play. The Bearcats will be on the road tomorrow, April 14th, as they travel Bethany for a PAC matchup with the Bison.
