SUNDAY RECAP

After three days of competition both the Saint Vincent men's and women's swimming teams finished in 5th place at the Franklin and Marshall Invitational. The women finished 5th among 13 teams with 606 points, while the men finished 5th of 11 teams, totaling 722 during the three days in Lancaster.

In the preliminary morning session, senior Marla Turk broke the school record in the 200 Backstroke, with a time of 2:10.06.

Later in the day, the top performance came from Grace Reynolds in the 100 Breaststroke. The sophomore came in fourth place, clocking in at 1:06.94.

In the final event of the competition, the Bearcat relay team of Ciara Lewis, Katelyn Miller, Maddie Bartrug, and Marissa Frollo, touched the wall at 3:38.28, finishing in sixth place.

On the men's side, Jacob Davis led the men's team first by, lowering his 100 Free school record to 45.94 in the preliminary round. Later in 100 Free finals, the sophomore finished in second place, clocking in at 45.97. Davis was also a member of the fourth place 400 Free relay team with Xander Emili, Matt Tashima and Alex Bolen (3:11.93).

Another record for the Bearcats came from Adam Gordish in the 200 Backstroke. Gordish lowered his own record in the preliminary session as well with a time of 1:58.31. The junior later finished in eighth place in finals (1:59.31).

In the 500 Free, Bolen finished in seventh place with a time of 4:48.53, out-touching a Division I University of Delaware swimmer by .1 of second. 

Finishing out the individual part of competition was Emili in the 200 Butterfly. The senior clocked in with a time of 2:02.78, coming in eighth overall.

The Bearcats will host Washington and Jefferson College at home on Saturday, December 3.

Saturday Recap

The Saint Vincent men's team remained in fifth place after Saturday's action, while the Bearcat women sit in sixth place overall with 321 points at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational in Lancaster, Pa.
 
The Saturday morning session consisted of primarily preliminary competition with an exception of one event, the 200 Women's Medley Relay. The quartet of Sarah Sheldon, Grace Reynolds, Maddie Bartrug and Marissa Frollo placed sixth overall with a time of 1:50.73.
 
In the evening session, Frollo added an eighth place finish in the 50 Free, clocking in at a time of 24.65.
 
Marla Turk finished in a sixth place in the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 4:41.96. Kelly Kramer chipped in a 10th place finish in the event, touching the wall at 4:45.06.
 
In the 200 Free, Bartrug finished in a sixth place, with a time of 1:55.82.
 
Ending the night, the 800 Free Relay team comprised of Kramer, Cassandra Trudle, Ciara Lewis, and Turk finished in ninth place, clocking in at 8:08.33.
 
On the men's side, Adam Gordish, Kam Faychak, Xander Emili, and Matt Tashima took 11th place in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:39.38.
 
Leading the way for the men's team was junior Adam Gordish in the 100 backstroke. Gordish had the best finish of the night coming in fourth place with a time of 53.95.
 
Xander Emili added a eighth place finish for the Bearcats in the 100 Butterfly clocking in at 52.86. In the 200 Free, Jake Davis finished fifth touching the wall at 1:45.68.
 
The team of Emili, Davis, Sean Doyle and Alex Bolen finished up the night with a sixth place finish in the 800 Free Relay, with a time of 7:09.58.
 

Friday Recap

The Saint Vincent swimming teams completed day one of three at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational. After Friday's night session, the SVC men sit in 5th place out of 11 teams. Meanwhile, the Bearcat women rank 6th among 13 squads. 
 
The Bearcat women racked up 155 points on day one, sitting just one point behind Widener University for fifth place in a competitive field.
 
Leading the way was senior Marla Turk, who posted a record breaking performance in the 1650 Free, with a time of 18:18.56. Turk also broke the school's 1000 Free record, with a race time of 11:03.57, to place ninth overall in the event.
 
The Bearcat relay team of Maddie Bartrug, Claire Kenna, Marissa Frollo, and Ciara Lewis, came in a solid sixth place finish out of 13 teams in the 200 Free relay, posting a time of 1:39.16.
 
Topping off the night, the quartet of Sarah Sheldon, Grace Reynolds, Bartrug, and Lewis, placed seventh in the 400 Medley relay touching the wall at 4:01.62.

On the men's side, junior Alex Bolen had the top performance of the night, coming in fifth place overall in the men's 1650 Free, with a time of 16:45.33. Bolen added in a fourth place finish in the Men's 200 Free Relay along with teammates Adam Tran, Jacob Davis, and Matt Tashima. The quartet clocked in at a time of 1:25.96.
 
Rounding up the night, the 400 Medley Relay Team of Davis, Kameron Faychak, Xander Emili, and Tashima placed eighth, touching the wall at 3:32.61. Within the event, Davis lowered his own school record in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 52.16. 

SVC will compete in day two of the event Saturday (Nov. 19).
