BOX SCOREBy Sports Information Student Assistant Brian NiemiecThe Saint Vincent men's tennis team earned its second straight win in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 9-0 sweep over visiting Geneva College at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
The match got underway with doubles play, in which Saint Vincent took all three points. The first doubles pairing of
Jonathan Prichard and
Ryan Hartz cruised to an 8-2 victory to claim the first point of the match for the Bearcats, before the second and third doubles teams won 8-5 and 8-4, respectively.
Prichard got singles play underway by claiming the Bearcats' fourth point of the match for Saint Vincent at the #1 position with a commanding straight sets win, 6-0, 6-0. Hartz clinched the match for the Bearcats by winning second singles, 6-2, 6-1. The most interesting match of the day came at fourth singles where
Zach Fox took the first set 6-0 then fell behind 0-5 in the second set before storming back to take the second set, 7-5.
The win puts Saint Vincent at 2-2 (2-0 PAC) on the year. The Bearcats will be back in action Tuesday March 22 for a home match against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets at 12:30PM at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
