The Bearcat baseball team lost to Mount Aloysius in non-conference play on the road in Cresson by a score of 17-9.
SVC got on the board in the top of the first, when
Patrick Mahon singled and moved to second on an error. Â
Bobby Finn then singled to score Mahon. After
Greg Martin reached on an error,
Eddie Kilkeary's sacrifice fly scored Finn to put SVC in front, 2-0.
However, the Mounties' first five batters all reached base and scored, before starter
Matt Whittaker (0-2) was lifted.
Down 6-2 in the third, SVC got a run back on an RBI single by Kilkeary that scored Mahon, who had walked. Â After the hosts scored three runs in their half of the third to make the score 9-3, SVC added a pair of runs in the fourth on bases loaded walks to Finn and Martin.
With the score 11-5, Saint Vincent cut the deficit in half with a three-run 6th inning. Â After Mahon reached on an error, Finn singled to move him to second. Â A double by Martin scored Mahon, and
TJ Kuny later drove home a pair of runs with a single, but the Bearcats were unable to close the gap further, and gave up a 6-run seventh inning.
Kuny had three hits to lead the offense, while Finn was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Â Martin was 1-3 with 3 RBI. Â
Dylan Stark and
Ramon Milke each worked a scoreless inning in relief on the hill.
