The SVC baseball team lost to Muskingum University in the Russ Matt Tournament in Auburndale, Florida by a score of 19-3, the team's first loss of the 2017 season.

The Fighting Muskies got on the board in the top of the first against SVC starter Matt Whittaker, but the Bearcats tied the game in the bottom of the second.  Eddie Kilkeary singled and moved to second on a wild pitch, then moved to third on a single by Chris Winkler.  An infield single by Ramon Milke then scored Kilkeary to tie the game.

Muskingum added a pair of runs in the third, then broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring six runs on six hits, aided by a pair of SVC errors.

The Bearcats added a run in the 7th on an RBI single by Patrick McElfish and one in the 9th on a Muskie error.

Whittaker worked the first three innings, taking the loss.  Winkler went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the offense.  

Saint Vincent is now 2-1 on the season and will take on Wittenberg University on Wednesday (March 8) at 4PM in the stadium at Chain O'Lakes Park in Winter Haven, FL.
