The SVC women's bowling team defeated Pitt-Bradford by a score of 2-0 to advance into round three of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships, but lost to Mount Aloysius by a 2-1 margin to end the season.
Against UPB, the Bearcats started strong and led from start to finish in the traditional match.
Dani Koehler shot a 209 to lead the team, while
Meghan Christman finished with a 179 and
Mercedes Belch recovered from a slow start to finish with a score of 173. SVC won the match by more than 200 pins, 865-663.
Up next was a 5-game Baker total match, and SVC jumped to a quick 27 pin lead with a 183-156 victory in game one. SVC ended up winning four of the five games and taking the series by a score of 811-711. The Bearcats had a team-high of 196 in game three.
The team then squared off against Mount Aloysius in the third round, an elimination game and a rematch of yesterday's first round marathon match. The Mounties earned the first point with an 832-806 win in the traditional contest. Koehler led the Bearcats with a 200 game, while
Jessica Guesman finished with a 164.
In the first game of a five-game Baker total pinfall match, the Bearcats dug themselves a hole early, losing the first match by 69 pins, 196-127. However, the team came back strong, winning 197-152 and 166-145 in the next two games to cut the deficit to just three pins. A 183-163 win in game four put SVC in front by 17, and the team earned the comeback win with a 171-142 victory in game 5.
That sent the match to a best-of-seven Baker set to determine which team would advance to the AMCC Championship against Medaille College. The Bearcats were unable to get off to a strong start in any of the games, and lost four straight to end the season.
For her efforts on the weekend, Koehler was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Bearcats finish their second season with a record of 39-14.
