The Saint Vincent softball team traveled to face Penn State-Beaver in a non-conference matchup. The Bearcats picked the road sweep winning 6-5 and 10-0.

Both teams were held in check in the first four innings. In the top of the fifth, it was the Bearcats that broke the scoreless tie.
Johnna Karas hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored
Shae Robson.

Later in the inning,
Kelsey Tobin doubled that scored
Kelly Flaherty and gave Saint Vincent the 2-0 lead.

Penn State-Beaver took the lead in the bottom of the sixth by scoring three runs on a triple.

In the top of the seventh, the Bearcats regained the lead Karas doubled that scored Flaherty. On the same play, Karas advanced to third on a throw in and then scored on an error.

Tobin scored on a single by
Alona Sleith and increased Saint Vincent's lead to 5-3. Robson drove in
Lauren Miller to extend the lead to three runs, 6-3.

In the bottom half of the inning, Penn State-Beaver tried to rally but was only held to two runs. The Bearcats claimed the first game 6-5.

Karas led Saint Vincent with two hits in three at-bats. She drove in two runs while scoring once.

Erica Smiley started in the circle and pitched six-plus innings in her victory. Smiley allowed five runs (two earned), seven hits and striking out five.
Riley Assalone came in relief in the seventh and picked up the save.

In the second game, it was all Bearcats. Flaherty opened the scoring in the second inning with single that plated
Sydney Gurneal.

In the fifth, Sleith doubled that scored both Tobin and Flaherty. Saint Vincent extended its lead to 3-0.

In the final inning of regulation, the Bearcats bats exploded. Miller got the scoring started with a two-run homer, her second home run of the season.
Kaylee Ludwick kept the run going for Saint Vincent as she doubled and scored Assalone and Smiley.

Later in the inning, Karas singled to score Ludwick and
Kelsie Linden and give the Bearcats a 9-0 lead. Tobin drove in Karas for the final run of the game and gave Saint Vincent the 10-0 victory.

Tobin went three-for-four from the plate with two runs and a run batted in. Karas also collected three hits while driving in two runs and scoring once.

Celia Knappenberger started for the Bearcats and pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing only two hits.

Saint Vincent improves to 12-6 on the season and travels to Geneva College to open Presidents' Athletic Conference play. First pitch is 1:00 p.m.
