The Saint Vincent softball team remained undefeated in Presidents' Athletic Conference play with a pair of come-from-behind victories over Grove City at home, 2-1 and 9-7.

In game one, the Bearcats gave up an unearned run in the top of the second inning, and the 1-0 Grove City lead held up until the sixth inning in a pitcher's duel between SVC's Celia Knappenberger and Grove City's Ashley Cornelius.

With one out, Kelsey Tobin hit a double to the fence in center field, and was replaced by pinch runner Megan Christner.  Lauren Miller followed with a single that brought home Christner to tie the game, and an error allowed Miller to take second.  Alona Sleith then singled, moving Miller to third.   Johnna Karas followed with a fly out to right field, and Miller tagged from third, just beating the throw to put the Bearcats in front, 2-1.

Knappenberger (9-5) closed out the 7thfor a complete game win, giving up just four hits, walking one while striking out eight.

In game two, the Wolverines scored four runs in the second inning, with the big hit coming from Hannah Dietz, who hit a three-run home run to left off SVC starter Riley Assalone.

The Bearcats cut into the margin in the third inning, as Abbey Ginter singled to lead off, and Shae Robson followed with a single that moved the runner to third.  Robson took second on the throw, putting two runners in scoring position.  Tobin then hit a sacrifice fly that plated Ginter, making the score 4-1.  With two out, Sleith singled home Robson and advanced to second on the throw home.  Sleith then scored the Bearcats' third run on a single by Karas.

After the visitors scored a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to make it 6-3, Saint Vincent got a run back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Miller.

In the bottom of the fifth, Kara walked to lead off, then moved to second on a single by Sydney Gurneal. Erica Smiley hit a grounder back to the mound and Karas was thrown out at third on a force, then Kelly Flaherty's fly to right was dropped, loading the bases and keeping the inning alive.  Robson then singled to center, scoring Gurneal to make the score 6-5.   Tobin then hit a grounder that was misplayed at first base, allowing the tying run to score. Miller followed with a clutch, 2-run single that gave SVC its first lead of the game, 8-6.

A half inning later, the Wolverines threatened to tie the game, getting two runners on base with a pair of 2-out walks.  Liz Scherer then hit a double to right that scored one run, but the second runner was thrown out at the plate when Miller took the relay throw from Flaherty and threw a strike to home plate.  Kaylee Ludwick applied the tag, keeping SVC in front by a run.

The Bearcats added an unearned insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Ginter, taking advantage of a Grove City error earlier in the inning.

Knappenberger then came on in relief to retire the Wolverines in order in the 7th, preserving the Bearcats' second come-from-behind win of the afternoon.

Erica Smiley (7-2) worked five innings in relief and earned the win.

The Bearcats are now 8-0 in the PAC, 20-10 overall.  Grove City drops to 4-6 in the conference, 10-11 overall.
