The Saint Vincent baseball team lost a non-conference game to crosstown rival Pitt-Greensburg by a score of 15-4.
Down 1-0 in the third inning, the Bearcats tied the game when
Joe Rudzinski singled home
Nate Roebuck, who had led off the inning with a double. Â UPG retook the lead on a solo home run in the bottom of the inning, but the Bearcats came back in the fifth. Â After Roebuck walked,
Tom Bash singled and
Parker Janosko walked, loading the bases. Â A wild pitch brought home Roebuck to tie the game, then
Jimmy Malone drew a walk to once again load the bases. Â
Zach Mammana then singled home two runs, putting SVC in front, 4-2.
A three-run home run by the Bobcats made it 5-4, and Pitt-Greensburg never looked back, adding 10 more runs in the closing innings.
Ryan Shirley (0-1) started and took the loss, working 4 1/3 innings for the Bearcats. Â Offensively, Bash went 3-for-3, while Rudzinski and Mammana each had two hits. Â
Saint Vincent is now 19-17 on the season. Â The Bearcats will host Washington & Jefferson College on Saturday (May 4) in a doubleheader at Bearcat Ballfield.
