NEW BOSTON, N.Y. (April 13) - Saint Vincent College junior outside hitter
Matthew Minkin had been recognized with third team All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference accolades for his play during the 2022 season.
Minkin (York, Pa./Central York) earns All-AMCC accolades for the second straight season, having been named to the second team in 2021.
In the recently completed 2022 campaign, Minkin started all 24 matches and 180 sets and led the Bearcats - and ranked fourth in the AMCC - with an average of 3.30 digs per set, while his 2.16 digs per set ranked second on the team and ninth in the conference. He recorded 10 or more kills on 12 different occasions, including 20-plus kill efforts on Feb. 19 vs. Hilbert (22 kills) and March 16 vs. Penn State-Altoona (20). He also notched 10 or more digs in seven different matches, posting five kill-dig double-doubles. Minkin also led the Bearcats with 26 service aces, good for 12th in the conference. He served two or more aces in in eight different matches.
J.P. Goodsel, of conference champion Penn State-Behrend, was named the AMCC Player of the Year while his coach, Phil Pisano, was tabbed the conference's Coach of the Year. Thiel College's Jake Dies was recognized as the conference's Newcomer of the Year.
