Doyle, Walters earn PAC accolades

TRAFFORD, Pa. (March 20) – After leading Saint Vincent to a trio of convincing non-conference victories, a pair of Bearcat women's lacrosse players netted weekly Presidents' Athletic Conference accolades.

Junior Bridget Doyle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) was tabbed the PAC Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman Carolina Walters (Latrobe, Pa./Homeschooled) earned PAC Rookie of the Week honors.

Doyle had a monster week for the Bearcats, recording 34 points, on 12 goals and 22 assists. In a 19-13 win at Muskingum on March 15, she tallied 11 points, on four goals and seven assists, while becoming just the 16th player in program history to surpass 100 career points. Three days later, in a 16-3 win over Lancaster Bible, Doyle led SVC with eight points, on two goals and six assists.

She would then wrap up her week with a historic performance in the Bearcats' 18-6 win over Wilson on Sunday, tallying 15 points, on six goals and nine assists. It was just the sixth time in program history in which a payer scored at least 15 points, and marked the highest single-game output for a Bearcat since Maggie Nelson, the team's all-time leading scorer, recorded 17 points on April 18, 2018, at Thiel. The 15 points are tied for the fourth-most in a game by a Bearcat, behind Nelson's NCAA-record 19-point output in April 2018 vs. Chatham; 18 points from Nora Posival in an April 2013 win over Franciscan; and Nelson's aforementioned 17-point day against Thiel in 2018.

Walters recorded multiple points in all three SVC wins on the week, finishing the three-game span with 13 points, on seven goals and six assists. At Muskingum, she tallied a career-high six points, on three goals and three helpers, before scoring two goals and an assist in the Lancaster Bible win and two goals and two assists in the win over Wilson. Walters' seven goals on the week came on just nine shots.

The Bearcats will open up a busy week on Wednesday, March 22, when they travel to Waynesburg for a 7 p.m. tilt. They will then welcome Mount Aloysius to UPMC Field on Thursday at 4 p.m.
