PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Apr. 28)- The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team concluded their regular season with a 17-8 loss at Chatham.
Bridget Doyle led the way for the Bearcats with six points, all of which came on assists.
Maggie Edwards scored three goals as well for Saint Vincent, while also picking up three ground balls.
Kaylee Bandow scored two goals and
Carolina Walters added one goal for the Bearcats in the loss as well.
SVC hung around in the first quarter as Chatham held a slight 6-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. Edwards got the scoring started giving. Saint Vincent an early 1-0 lead. After a Cougars goal tied it up, Starner scored her first of the game to give the Bearcats the lead right back
at 2-1.
The back-and-forth quarter continued as the Cougars scored again to tie it up
at 2-2. And Bandow then scored on an assist from Doyle, giving SVC a 3-2 lead.
Chatham scored the next two goals in the opening quarter to take their first lead
at 4-3 and they wouldn't lose the lead the rest of the way.
The Bearcats tied it up
at 4-4 on another goal from Starner, this one assisted by Doyle but the Cougars scored the final two goals of the quarter to take a 6-4 lead.
From there, it was all Chatham, which outscored SVC 11-4 the rest of the way. Edwards scored three of the final four goals of the contest, while Walters also scored one for Saint Vincent.
Bailey Nicely took the loss in net, making 15 saves for the Bearcats.
The Bearcats recorded 30 shots, 21 ground balls, and 13 draw controls over the course of the game.
Saint Vincent will now prep for the 2023 PAC playoffs. The No. 6 seeded Bearcats will travel to No. 3 seed Franciscan University on Tuesday, May 2, for a PAC quarterfinal matchup.
