GRANTHAM, Pa. (Dec. 6-7)- The Saint Vincent Wrestling team had a great showing at the Messiah Petrofes Invitational over the last two days. With multiple nationally ranked programs in attendance, the Bearcats placed three individuals on the podium in a 32-man bracketed event.
After day one of action completed, three Bearcats remained alive in the medal rounds. At 133 lbs., Kyle McCollum went 6-1 on the weekend to finish in third place. McCollum had victories over notable opponents from Messiah, Lycoming, Greensboro, Adrian, and Springfield College.
Freshman Anthony Orlandini at 149 lbs. had a standout performance, going unseeded to finish in 7th place and 4-2 overall. Orlandini's victories came over opponents from Shenandoah, Springfield, Averett and Adrian College to finish off his day.
Finally, at 165 lbs. Chase Brandebura finished in 5th position and 4-2 overall for the weekend. Chace was the lone Bearcat to reach the semi- finals and fell to the #1 ranked wrestler in the country from Alvernia. Brandebura was able to cap off the weekend with wins over Muhlenberg, Springfield, and Adrian College.
The Bearcats return to action on Friday, December 20th at the Wilkes open in Wilkes Barre, PA.
