LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 15) – The Saint Vincent College wrestling team earned a convincing Presidents' Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday night, defeating Thiel College 38-6 inside the Carey Center for the first time in the 2025-26 season.
The Bearcats (3-1, 2-1 PAC) claimed eight of the 10 contested bouts, using a balanced attack that featured two falls, four technical falls, and two major decisions to secure the conference win over the Tomcats (1-1, 1-1 PAC).
Thiel opened the dual with an overtime decision at 125 pounds, but Saint Vincent responded immediately and took control of the match.
Logan Connolly evened the score at 133 pounds with a fall at 4:26, jump-starting a run of seven straight Bearcat victories.
Kyle McCollum followed with a 19-3 technical fall at 141 pounds, while Anthony Orlandini added another tech fall at 149 with a 19-4 win. Ryan Yocum continued the momentum at 157 pounds, earning a dominant 13-0 major decision.
Connor Bauerline posted a 6-1 decision at 165 pounds, and Chase Brandebura recorded a 10-0 major decision at 174 to extend Saint Vincent's lead. Thiel picked up its second victory of the night at 184 pounds, but the Bearcats closed the dual in emphatic fashion.
Ryan Weinzen earned a 20-3 technical fall in just three minutes at 197 pounds, and Jonah McCoy sealed the team victory with a fall at 4:49 in the heavyweight bout.
Saint Vincent also recorded a pair of exhibition wins, as Owen Caracciolo claimed a 17-1 technical fall at 133 pounds and Tyler Debnar earned a fall at 141.
The Bearcats return to action on Thursday, January 22 with a road matchup at Pitt-Johnstown. The match will begin at 7 p.m. at Bishop McCort High School.
