LEXINGTON, Va. (March 22)- The Saint Vincent women's outdoor track and field team opened their outdoor season at the two-day Washington and Lee Carnival on Friday and Saturday.
To open the meet, three Saint Vincent runners qualified for regionals on Friday night. In the 1500-meter race,
Miranda Cincotta raced a regional qualifying time of 4:48.21 for the Bearcats.
Grace Neubert also qualified for regionals and set a Saint Vincent program record in the 5K. Neubert raced a program record time of 17:56.39 for the Bearcats in the event. Also, on Friday,
Kristen Prince raced a regional qualifying time and school record time of 38:23.81 for SVC in the 10K to add to the already impressive day for the Bearcats.
Also, in the 1500-meter race,
Lily Murphy,
Cassy Lanza,
Grace Scoville, and
Isabella Snyder all recorded PR's in the event. Murphy raced a time of 4:54.67 to finish in ninth, whole Lanza recorded a finish of 4:56.50, Scoville raced a time of 5:13.40, and Snyder recorded a finish of 5:17.78 for SVC as well.
On Saturday, Lanza just missed the Saint Vincent school record with a personal best time of 11:07.57 to win the event. She won the event in the eight runner field.
The Bearcats continued to shatter program records as Cincotta broke the Saint Vincent record in the 400-meter race. Cincotta finished third in the event with a school record time of 1:00.28 for SVC.
Gabrielle Dove broke the Bearcats outdoor record in the 100-meter dash, while she just missed the school record in the 200-meter dash. In the 100, she raced a record breaking time of 12.83 seconds to finish in third in the field of 36. In the 200, she recorded a time of 27.01 seconds to finish 11th in the field of 45.
In the 800-meter race, Neubert earned a top-five finish, racing a time of 2:22.56 to finish in fifth place for the Bearcats. Murphy (2:26.39/11th) and Scoville (2:38.93/24th) both recorded personal best times in the field of 35 runners.
Samantha Straub broke another school record for the Bearcats as well in the triple jump. Straub recorded a school record mark of 10.47m for Saint Vincent to finish sixth in the field of 12.
Saint Vincent will return to action on Friday, March 28, competing in the two-day Carnegie Mellon Invitational. Saint Vincent will also compete in the event on Saturday, March 29 as well.
