Teams open season in Westminster Relays

The Saint Vincent men's and women's swimming teams opened the 2010-11 season by competing in the Westminster Relays at Westminster College.

Overall, the teams combined for a 4th place finish among six teams.  Gannon University led with 268 points, followed by Edinboro (220), Westminster (194), Saint Vincent (110), Chatham (72) and Penn State-Altoona (60).

The Lady Bearcats scored 46 points, finishing fifth among competing schools.  The men added 54 points, finishing fourth.

Saint Vincent's top finishers were as follows:

In the men's 3x100 relay, the team of Dan Kostovny, Kyle Anderson and Adam Hodnichak finished third with a time of 3:28.67.

The men's 400 Medley relay team of Adam Thomas, Kostovny, Casey Whittaker and Logan Dorminey also finished third in 3:56.38.

In the women's 200 Free relay, the team of Katie Custer, Maggie Dempsey, Carolyn Claybrooks and Jess Kennedy took third place with a time of 1:44.28.

The men's 200 Free relay team of Matt Linebaugh, Kyle Anderson, Tyler Grigg and Troy Linebaugh finished third with a time of 1:36.34, just a second behind Westminster for second place.

Finally, the women's 3x500 Freestyle team of Amanda Haile, Jayna Cline and Kelsey Linstrum also finished third in 17:31.14.

Up next for Saint Vincent is a visit to Grove City College to take on the Wolverines on November 6.
