FULL RESULTS
LATROBE (Nov. 12) - The Saint Vincent women's swim team claimed a 121-56 victory over Pitt-Bradford while the men's team lost by one point, 101-100, in the Bearcats' home opener at the Frank and Elizabeth Resnik Pool.
In the women's race, SVC claimed the top-three places in the 200 medley relay, as the team of seniors
Jess Kennedy and
Christine Dunleavy, freshman
Megan Samoriski and senior
Maggie Dempsey posted a time of 1:57.79 to win by just over a half a second against the team of freshmen
Jess Smrekar,
Alexis Ferraco,
Sarah Robbins and
Paige Pecora.
SVC also posted the top-two finishes in the 1000 freestyle when sophomore
Alyssa Taylor registered a time of 11:30.89, besting classmate
Carolyn Claybrooks who finished second in 11:36.27. In the 200 free, Ferraco claimed first place with a time of 2:03.33.
The Bearcats registered top-three finishes in the 50 free as Robbins finished first ahead of Pecora and freshman
Molly Ruffner with a time of 25.59.
Both Bearcat competitors posted strong finishes in the 400 IM, as freshman Molly McKloskey won the race with a time of 5:14.91 over junior
Jayna Cline, who was second with a time of 5:18.95.
In the 100 butterfly, Robbins finished first and Taylor touched the wall second with times of 1:01.65 and 1:06.25, respectively. The 100 free event saw the Bearcats finish in the top three places as Samoriski won with a time of 57.48. McKloskey also claimed a win in the 500 free with a time of 5:41.90.
For the men's race, freshman
Joe Woodman earned a victory in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.30 over junior
Logan Dorminey who was second in 1:55.58.
Freshman
Zach Ligus claimed a victory in the 50 free, posting a time of 22.76 to best sophomore
Matt Linebaugh, who finished second in 23:05. Ligus was also victorious in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.20.
Linebaugh earned the win in the 100 free, posting a time of 50.67 while sophomore
Sam Cline posted a win in the 500 free with a time of 5:12.49.
To close out the meet, SVC posted a victory in the 200 free relay, as the team of Ligus, Woodman, Dorminey and Linebaugh touched the wall in 1:31.38.
The Bearcats return to action next Saturday, Nov. 19, traveling to Erie, Pa., for a dual meet with Penn State-Behrend.
