GROVE CITY, Pa. (Feb. 18) - Freshman Joe Woodman claimed the first Presidents' Athletic Conference title in school history and sophomore Alyssa Taylor became the first Bearcat to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships as the Bearcats finished fourth at the PAC Championships.

Woodman placed first in the 500 freestyle event with a school-record time of 4:44.84 on the events' first day, becoming the first swimmer in Saint Vincent history to claim an individual title at the league championships.

Taylor posted an "B"-cut time to provisionally qualify for the NCAA National Championships in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.60 to place second in the finals. It marked the first time in school history that a Bearcat swimmer provisionally qualified for the national championships. Taylor is now eligible to be selected to compete at the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships March 21-24 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Over the three days of the PAC Championships, the SVC swim teams combined to set nearly 30 school records between the preliminaries and finals.

The women's 200 freestyle relay of Maggie Dempsey, Alexis Ferraco, Sarah Robbins and Katie Custer set a school record in the preliminaries with a time of 1:39.12 before being disqualified in the finals.

The women's 200 medley relay of Jess Smrekar, Christine Dunleavy, Taylor and Custer set a school record and finished third with a time of 1:48.84. The men's 200 medley of Woodman, Dan Kostovny, Zach Ligus and Matt Linebaugh placed fifth with a school-record time of 1:39.50.

Dunleavy placed second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.79 which was a school record and missed provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships by .4 seconds.

In the men's 800 free relay, Woodman, Linebaugh, Logan Dorminey and Ligus set a school record and finished second.

Taylor posted another top-three finish in the 200 butterfly, finishing third with a time of 2:11.40 after setting a school record in the preliminaries by touching the wall in 2:09.40.
