Rev. Myron Kirsch, OSB, has announced that the college has canceled the 2012 field hockey season, and will look to rebuild the program for 2013.
Several factors led to the decision, most notably a depleted roster due to graduation and injuries.
Nicole Hinerman, who served as an assistant coach in 2011, has been appointed Head Coach of the program and will look to revitalize the program for a return next season.
“We appreciate the efforts of everyone involved, especially the returning players,” said Kirsch. “Field hockey has been a varsity sport here since 2006, and while this was a difficult decision to make, we believe that taking a year off to rebuild is the best route. Coach Hinerman will now have time to focus on recruiting and bringing the program back to full speed in 2013.”
