The Bearcats used a strong shooting performance to defeat Washington & Jefferson, 92-66, to improve their Presidents' Athletic Conference record to 2-0.
Â
Isaac Turner led all scorers with 30 points while teammate Dillion Stith followed closely with 22 of his own. Also in double digits,
JC Howard tallied 10 points shooting 2-3 from beyond the arc and a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe.
Â
Washington & Jefferson came out strong from the opening tip, starting the game on a 5-0 run. The Presidents extended their lead to 13-5 at the 14 minute mark with two points from Nate Bellhy in transition.Â
Â
The eight point lead was the high point for the Presidents as the Bearcats opened up a 6-0 run that pulled them to within two (13-11) with 13 minutes left to play in the first half.Â
Â
Washington & Jefferson answered with a three-pointer from Brett Rubin-Goldstein, but the Bearcats struck back with a 12-0 run, gaining their first lead of the night and extending it to 20-13 with 10:27 left in the first half. During the run, Stith hammered home a slam dunk after a Presidents' turnover and
Pat Jones converted on a three-pointer to cap off the run.
Â
The two teams exchanged baskets for the remainder of the first half, but the Presidents could only get to within four (25-21, 7:30) as the Bearcats' shot 52 percent from the field in the first half and took a 45-21 lead into the half.
Â
After the half, both teams traded baskets, but the 14 point deficit was too much more the Presidents to overcome.
Â
Saint Vincent showcased their shooting abilities in the second half as well, shooting 13-19 from the field for a 68 percent mark.Â
Â
Turnovers played a pivotal role in the win for the Bearcats as they scored 23 points off turnovers and only allowed 8 points off their own.
Â
Bellhy recorded a double-double for the Presidents scoring 14 points and adding 10 rebounds. Also a key contributor for the Presidents was Mitch Locher coming off the bench scoring 14 points of his own.
Turner went 9-for-10 from the free throw line, hitting his first nine of the night. Â His streak ended at 28 consecutive made shots, just one shy of the all-time school record, which has stood for 42 years.
Â
The win improves SVC to 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in the PAC.
Â
The Bearcats are off for the remainder of the 2013 year as they do not play again until  January 2, 2014 at Penn State-Fayette, who they defeated earlier this season by a score of 93-73 at the Carey Center.
