Bearcats come back for win over PSU-Altoona

The Saint Vincent College men's tennis team traveled to Penn State Altoona and emerged with a hard fought 6-3 victory.  Trailing 2-1 after doubles, the Bearcats rallied to win five of the six singles positions and take the match. 

Saint Vincent won despite the absence of Tony CostantinoNathan Walch and Sean Malone moved to second doubles while Pat Hiles and Chris Andrejcik manned third doubles.  All four players also had to move up one spot in the singles lineup.

The first doubles team of Anthony Nemanic and David Cenkner continued their stellar play and cruised 8-1. Walch and Malone lost 8-5 while Andrejcik and Hiles fell 8-4. 

Nemanic and Cenkner were similarly dominant during singles play as the duo lost only three games combined.  Walch, Malone, and Andrejcik all recovered from their poor doubles matches to win at singles.  Walch won a tight first set 6-4 then took the second 6-1.  Andrejcik played well and put his opponent away 6-3, 6-1.  Malone easily triumphed 6-1, 6-2 at fifth singles.

Saint Vincent returns to conference play tomorrow when the team goes to Waynesburg.  The match has a 3 30 PM start time.

NOTE: Cenkner won 6-1, 6-1; Nemanic won 6-0, 6-1
