BOX SCOREGROVE CITY, Pa. (Apr. 8) - The Saint Vincent men's tennis team was swept by Presidents' Athletic Conference leader Grove City, 9-0, in a conference match.
With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 6-2 on the season and 4-2 in the league. Grove City improves to 6-3 overall, but 5-0 in the conference.
SVC's best fight in doubles play came at the first position where
Sean Malone and
Chris Andrejcik dropped an 8-4 decision. The Bearcats lost second and third doubles by 8-1 and 8-0 counts, respectively.
At singles,
Tyler Brinton won the first set of his fifth singles match 6-4 before dropping the second 6-3 and the eventual tiebreaker 10-8. The Bearcats had little success elsewhere in singles, winning just eight points in the five other matches.
SVC returns to action on Monday, April 14 with the conference finale at Thiel, which is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
