LATROBE, Pa. (April 27) - The Saint Vincent baseball team dropped a 19-5 decision to first place Thomas More in a Presidents' Athletic Conference contest at Bearcat Ballfield.
Thomas More built a 4-0 lead before the Bearcats rallied with three runs to trim the deficit to a single run (4-3). However, The Saints would post seven runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth inning en route to the victory.
The visiting Saints scored 19 runs on 19 hits, six of which went for extra bases. The Bearcats scored five runs on 14 hits, five of which went for extra bases. The teams combined to use 41 players in the contest.
Senior outfielder
Aaron Burger went 3-for-4 with a triple to lead the offense.

Freshman
Justin Bakewell got the start on the mound and suffered the loss. The southpaw worked 2.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on five hits while also walking four. The Bearcat pitching staff struggled as a whole on the afternoon, surrendering 19 runs, 18 of which were earned. SVC pitchers also combined to walk seven and also hit four batters.
The loss dropped the Bearcats to 16-18 overall and 9-12 in the PAC. Thomas More improved to 24-7 overall and 18-2 in league play.
Saint Vincent concludes the 2016 season with a three-game series this weekend with Waynesburg University. The Bearcats and Yellow Jackets will play a single nine-inning doubleheader in Latrobe on Friday, April 29. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. The game will serve as Senir Day for Saint Vincent.
