Jason Vater hit a walkoff single in the 10th inning to lift the Bearcats to a 3-2 victory over Waynesburg University on Senior Day at Bearcat Ballfield.

SVC starter Tyler Frankel yielded four singles and a run in the top of the first, but picked off a runner and was able to get out of the inning without further damage. He then settled down, at one point retiring 11 straight Jackets.

The Bearcats tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, when Dylan Kugler singled with one out, moved to third on a double by TJ Kuny, and scored on a groundout by Luke Fox.

In the seventh, Kugler doubled to left with one out and scored on a Kuny single, putting SVC in front, 2-1.

The score remained 2-1 until the top of the 9th, when Waynesburg's Tyler Godwin sent Frankel's first pitch of the inning over the left field fence, tying the game, 2-2.

In the bottom of the 10th, Bobby Swartwout hit a grounder that was misplayed at third with one out.  Pinch runner Matthew Morrone promptly stole second on the first pitch to the next batter, Vater.  Vater then responded with a single to right, scoring Morrone with the game winner.

Frankel worked 8+ innings, giving up six hits, walking two and striking out three.  Greg Martin (3-1) earned the victory in relief.

Scott Hefty (0-1) took the loss for Waynesburg.

Saint Vincent is now 10-12 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while Waynesburg drops to 10-9.  The teams will meet again on Saturday (April 30) for a twinbill at Waynesburg.
