Sunday's Recap
LANCASTER, Pa. (Nov. 19) - After three days of competition the Saint Vincent men's swimming team finished in sixth place out of 11 teams with a total of 488 points. While women's team finished in 8th place out of 13 with a score of 458 points at the Franklin and Marshall College Invitational in Lancaster, Pa.
The top performance of the night came from
Jacob Davis in the men's 100 Free. The junior established a new school record time en route to victory in the event. He put together a time of 44.85, which falls in the NCAA Championship "B" cut level.
Zach Baum took second place in 200 Individual Medley, clocking in with a time of 1:56.28. The freshman also took eighth place Sunday in the 200 Butterfly touching the wall at 1:58.62.
In the 100 Breaststroke,
Michael Marinchak took eighth place with a time of 1:00.05.
The quartet of Baum,
John Martin, Alex Bolen and Davis took third overall in the 400 Free Relay, with a time of 3:09.05.
On the women side, senior
Kelly Kramer took seventh place in the 200 Individual Medley hitting the wall at 2:11.07.
Maddie Bartrug took eighth place in the 100 Free, clocking in at 54.09.
The women concluded the meet with the 400 free relay.
Ciara Lewis, Marion D' Aurora, Kramer, and Bartrug finished the race with a time of 3:38.78 claiming sixth overall.
After having next weekend off, the Bearcats will travel to Washington and Jefferson College for a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday, December 2.
Saturday's Recap
The Saint Vincent men's team remained in fifth place after Saturday's action, while the Bearcat women still sits in 10th place overall with 229 points at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational in Lancaster, Pa.
The Saturday morning session consisted of primarily preliminary competition with an exception of one event, the 200 Women's Medley Relay. The quartet of
Sarah Sheldon,
Kelly Kramer, Marion D' Aurora, and
Maddie Bartrug placed ninth overall with a time of 1:52.44.
In the preliminary round, Kramer broke the school's 200 Breaststroke record with a time of 2:27.76. The senior placed fifth overall in the event.
Leading the way on the men's side was freshmen
Zach Baum, winning the 100 Butterfly with a time of 50.21 to break the school record. He was also a part of the seventh place 200 Medley Relay team (1:36.92), competing along with
Adam Gordish,
Kam Faychak, and
Alex Bolen.
Jacob Davis finished second in the 50 Free touching the wall at 21.11. Davis added in a third place finish in the 200 Free with a time of 1:42.73.
In the 200 Breaststroke, Faychak finished in eight place touching the wall at 2:14.65
Saturday's events ended with the 800 free relay, where
Kevin Martin,
John Martin, Bolen, and Davis finished in sixth place with a time of 7:05.58.
Friday's Recap
The Saint Vincent swimming teams completed day one of three at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational.
After Friday's night evening session, the SVC men sit in 5th place out of 11 teams. Meanwhile, the Bearcat women rank 10th among 13 squads.
The men started the meet off strong with a second place performance in the 200 free relay. The quartet of
Zach Baum,
John Martin,
Alex Bolen, and
Jacob Davis finished the race with a time of 1:25.60 out-touching Division 1 University of Delaware by .2.
The men finished the night with a fourth place finish in the 400 medley relay.
Adam Gordish,
John Martin, Baum, and Davis finished the race clocking in at 3:30.19.
On the women's side, the Bearcats finished in fifth in the 200 Free relay the quartet of
Ciara Lewis,
Marion D'Aurora,
Tyla Jackson, and
Maddie Bartrug touched the wall at 1:39.69.
