BOSTON, Mass. (Dec. 19) – Following a stellar senior season,
Maggie Nelson has earned nomination by the Lax Sports Network as a finalist for the upcoming 2018 LSN Awards.
The LSN Awards Show winners will be announced live on Monday, December 24 at 9:00 p.m. This is the third year LSN will be broadcasting a year-end awards special.
Nelson earned nomination in the category of Women's Individual Performance of The Year from LSN. Nelson was nominated for her performance in a 25-10 Saint Vincent victory over Chatham University on April 11. The Jefferson, Md. product recorded an NCAA Division III single-game record 19 points against the Cougars, recording 11 goals and adding a career-high eight assists in the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference victory.
Nelson's 19-point performance was the second-most in NCAA history – Division II Tiffin University's Alexandria Quast recorded 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win at Walsh University on April 5, 2013.
During the game against Chatham, Nelson also eclipsed the 300-goal mark and the 400-point mark for her career.
Nelson concluded her four-year career as one of the top offensive players in Division III women's lacrosse history. She finished her career as the NCAA Division III all-time leader in goals with 364. She ranks second all-time in Division III with 489 career points. She set NCAA Division III records for single-season goals (141), single-season points (178), points in a single game (19), goals per game in a season (8.81 per game) and points per game in a season (11.12 per game) during her senior season.
She was a four-time All-ORLC performer, including a three-time first team selection. She named ECAC Offensive Player of the Year twice and was voted ORLC Offensive Player of the Year twice. Nelson was named All-ECAC First Team three times and claimed IWLCA All-West Region honors as a senior.

Sports Illustrated in its Faces in the Crowd section in the May 21st issue.

The other three nominees in the category for Individual Performance of The Year were all student-athletes from the Division I level: Sam Apuzzo (Boston College), Kylie Ohlmiller (Stony Brook) and Haley Warden (James Madison).
