The Saint Vincent women's bowling team opened the 2019-20 season with a 3-0 sweep over Penn State-Altoona on the road.
In the first game of the night, the Bearcats got off to a strong start and cruised to an 824-634 victory in a team traditional game.Â
Meghan Christman led the way with a 178, while
Mercedes Belch shot 176. Freshman
Olivia Emmonds had a 169 game.

In game two, the Bearcats came on strong late in the game, earning a 198-pin victory, 843-645.Â
Dani Koehler led the team with a 182, while Christman finished with a 174. Emmonds shot 173, while freshman
Kayla Grudinsky threw a 163.

The match then moved into a Baker best-of-seven format for the third point of the night. In the first Baker game, SVC started with a strike from
Cheyenne Moore. Later in the game, Koehler, Moore, and Belch threw consecutive strikes, as SVC won by a score of 192-116. SVC then won the second game by a score of 171-125. The Bearcats struggled in game three but still posted a 125-96 win, before completing the sweep in game four.  Moore and Belch struck to put SVC in front early, and went on to a 179-115 victory, with
Jessica Guesman throwing three strikes in the 10th frame.Â

The Bearcats are now 3-0 to open the season, and will travel to Pittsburgh on Sunday (October 27) to face first-year program La Roche University.
