The Saint Vincent women's swim team traveled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to compete in the Franklin and Marshall invitational. After day one of competition, the Bearcats sit in sixth place out of 11 teams.
Freshman
Sarah Alexander kicked off the meet with a season best in the 500 freestyle preliminary heats (5:26.80), taking 23rd and earning a berth in the C finals, where she lowered her time to a 5:22.23.
Lauren Connors took 12th in the 200 IM, swimming a season-best time of 2:13.65 and securing a place in the B final. Connors went on to lower her time to a 2:12.00 in finals.
The Bearcats earned spots in all three finals for the 50 freestyle. Junior
Erica Steele led the way with a season best 24.50 in prelims, earning herself an A final spot, where she swam a 24.75 and took eighth.
Abby Leskovansky swam her way to B finals with a season best in prelims (25.14), which she lowered to a 25.00 in finals.
Katie Kozy completed the Bearcat's finals streak with a C final berth after a season best in prelims (25.57), a time she shattered in finals, swimming a 24.62.
Kicking off finals on Friday night, Leskovansky,
Cara Luallen, Kozy and
Erica Steele joined forces to take sixth in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.26.
The Bearcats finished off their first day of racing with a tie for sixth place in the 400 medley relay, where Connors,
Sara Basala, Kozy and
Abby Leskovansky teamed up to swim a 4:02.91.
The Bearcats are back in action on November 20
th, the second day of racing at the Franklin and Marshall invitational, with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
