The Saint Vincent women's bowling team came up short in its first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship match, falling to Medaille College, 2-0.
In the first game of the day, Medaille jumped to an early 80-pin lead midway through the game. The Bearcats held their own in the second half of the game, but lost by 87 pins, 978-891.Â
Dani Koehler led the way for SVC with a 214, while
Jessica Guesman shot a 189, and
Olivia Emmonds had a 170 game.
The match then switched to team Baker 5-game total pins format, and the Bearcats dropped the opening game of the series, 201-181. SVC made up the difference and took the lead after a 179-151 win in the second game, but struggled in game three, losing 184-140 and falling behind by 36 pins. Both teams tied at 169-169 in game four, leaving Saint Vincent to try to make up the difference in the final game. SVC had its strongest game of the set, a 198, but Medaille shot a 191 and won the series by a total of 896-867.
Koehler led all bowlers in the two-weekend tournament in traditional games, averaging 209 over three games. Guesman was second overall with a 199 average, while Emmonds was fourth at 183.3.Â
Jackie Koehler (170) and
Monique Koehler (156) also made the top-10, finishing 7th and 9th, respectively. Â
Koehler and Emmonds were named to the All-Tournament team. Â
Saint Vincent ends the season at 14-4.
