INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
The Saint Vincent men's bowling team wrapped up its trip to Las Vegas with a 27th place finish among 49 teams in the Collegiate Shoot-Out, held at the South Point Hotel & Casino.
After climbing as high as 19th after the first day of competition among some of the top teams in the nation, the Bearcats had a tough time on day two, losing eight positions over the final 12 Baker team games.
Day one started well for the team, with a 931 in the opening game, led by sophomore anchor
Brandon Dunmire's 244. Dunmire started the game with strikes on his first seven shots. The Bearcats improved to a 970 in the second game, with freshman
James Gatto leading the way with a 221 game, followed by senior
Eddie Zuzak's 211.
SVC then followed with games of 976 and 1044. In game three, Zuzak (215) and junior
Garrett Contee (208) had the top scores. In the next game, junior
Michael Fekete had the top score with a 237, while Dunmire added a 205 and Contee finished at 200.
The Bearcats followed with a solid 984 team game, with Fekete (231) and Dunmire (229) posting the top scores. In the final game of the day, Fekete finished with strikes on the final 6 shots en route to a 218 game, with Dunmire shot a 205. As a team, SVC tallied 972 pins, to finish the day in 19
th place.
Dunmire finished 33rd among the field of more than 400 bowlers, with a total of 1262 over six games, a 210.3 average. Fekete was 43rd at 1247 (207.8).
Twelve Baker team games followed on day two on a different oil pattern, and the team managed to shoot a 216 to open the day, but was only able to break the 200 barrier one other time for the squad. Gatto led the scoresheet on day two, with an average of 178, followed by Dunmire (177),
Alex Colecchia (171.2) and Contee (171.1).
The team will return to action on Saturday, January 14, hosting the 18-team Greater Pittsburgh Collegiate Classic at Hillview Lanes in Greensburg, starting at 9AM.
